Mover of mountains, Maker of meaningful moments

About Me

I'm a storyteller, stealth educator, convener, talent sleuth, and an agent of positive social change. I use the arts and entertainment to create, manage, develop, implement and execute multi-disciplinary cross-platform content for diverse audiences around the world. From intimate settings to historic landmarks, on stage, online or on television this can include theater, film festivals, concerts, panel discussions, exhibits, educational programs, symposia, conferences, gallery talks, lectures, tastings, art markets, television series, and large outdoor events.I work locally, nationally and internationally. Imagine Earth Day in Rome, Italy in the Piazza del Popolo, or the 150th Anniversary of the Smithsonian Institution on the National Mall in Washington, DC. I also produce small events in intimate settings.I love starting new initiatives and businesses, and I work well in large organizations and pan-institutionally. I have both a corporate and non-profit background.I have experience in fundraising, strategic planning, partnership development, grant management, audience engagement, brand expansion, marketing, all aspects of production, contract negotiation, revenue generation, and administrative responsibilities.

Accomplishments

  • Produced the 150th Anniversary programs on the National Mall for the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian, whose mission is to advance knowledge and understanding of the Native cultures of the Western Hemisphere—past, present, and future.

  • Created the “Music on…Photography” series with Ben Folds, Henry Rollins, Moby, Mark Seliger, Danny Clinch, Neko Case, and Pattie Boyd, a cross-platform series featuring live events, radio, and galleries on National Geographic’s photography site.

  • Recruited high-powered advisory council of entertainment industry professionals including presidents of Sony Pictures Classics and Paramount Pictures Classics, Kiefer Sutherland, Spike Lee, Stockard Channing, Chris Blackwell, and Forest Whitaker.

  • Launched the programming arm of National Geographic’s new music business, Nat Geo Music, which became the premier destination for audiences seeking a broad range of mainstream and world music.

  • Produced the Nat Geo Music Channels signature series, "Geo Sessions" (63 shows in a single year) generating $1M in revenue over time; these 30-minute programs featured acoustic concerts with artists like Stephen and Damian Marley, Ben Harper, Angelique Kidjo, Taj Mahal, Damon Albarn, The Good The Bad & The Queen, Seu Jorge, Blind Boys of Alabama, Mickey Hart, K’naan, Michael Franti, and Gogol Bordello.

  • Created the "All Roads Film Project", for National Geographic, a program that provided a platform for indigenous and underrepresented minority culture filmmakers and photographers. The main media centerpiece was the "All Roads Film Festival", which took place in Los Angeles, Washington, DC and in smaller iterations in cities in the US and around the world. The project also had a grant program and the first grant went to the then-emerging filmmaker, Taika Waititi.

  • Co-produced Nat Geo Music Channel's Earth Day show in Rome attended by 200,000 people and simulcast on television, streaming online and radio; the concert’s carbon emissions were offset by planting 1,000 trees in Rome’s Valle dell’Aniene park.
